Bozo strikes once again.

So on Tuesday I went for a normal OB appointment. Nick got to come with me this time. We had to wait forever after I was just bragging in the car how they are always on time here. I know I should have knocked on some wood. Anyway, so all the doc did was want to listen to the heartbeat. He didn't think it could be heard with the Doppler yet so he did an ultrasound, which I couldn't see because the screen was pointed away from me. So then he decides maybe he will be able to use the Doppler (which by the way it says in all my pregnancy books that it's possible at 12 weeks). So he does and says the heartbeat is between the 150-160's. So it has slowed down some from three weeks ago. So next we meet him in his office where he starts asking me if I want a cystic fibrosis test done. I say sure why not. He then goes into all the horrible things that can happen if your baby does have it. He also talks about the quad screen that I will be getting at around 16 weeks. He starts telling me about all the trisomies related with that. It was all really depressing. I'm thinking well thanks for trying to rain on my parade doc. Sure you know if your baby has a syndrome it's not going to be good. But until that time comes leave me in the dark. I have had my time with bad news. So anyway, I opted to wait to get both test done at the same time which will be soon after my next appointment. November 26th is the golden day that I will find out the sex of the baby. Poor Nick will be leaving for a TDY so therefore he won't be there to learn the news. I have decided to bring Maddy along so that she can share the experience with me. So until then we can only wonder boy or girl?

Today's appointment!

THE ONE ABOVE IS MY FAVORITE IT'S STICKING OUT IT'S TONGUE.

TODAY WAS MY BEST APPOINTMENT YET. IT WAS SO AMAZING AND SO SATISFYING. I HAD BEEN SO SCARED BECAUSE AT THIS POINT LAST TIME THINGS WERE ALREADY GOING DOWN HILL. SO WE GOT THE ULTRASOUND AND THE BABY WAS ADORABLE. IT WAS MOVING ALL AROUND WITH VISIBLE HANDS AND FEET. THE DOCTOR ASKED ME IF I WAS FEELING IT MOVE YET AND I SAID I HAD AND SHOWED HER WHERE SO SHE MOVED THE WAND OVER AND SURE ENOUGH THAT'S WHERE THE LITTLE FEET WERE. THEY WERE KICKING LIKE CRAZY. SO TURNS OUT IT IS STILL TOO SOON TO TELL THE SEX. WE WERE REALLY HOPING TO FIND OUT. THE BABY DID COOPERATE BUT I GUESS IT ISN'T SHOWING ANY PARTS YET. SHE SAID THAT THEY JUST STARTED FORMING THIS WEEK. SO AT THIS POINT THEY ALL LOOK LIKE GIRLS. SHE DIDN'T WANT TO RULE OUT A BOY YET. HOWEVER, NICK SAID IT MUST BE A GIRL BECAUSE ANY SON OF HIS WOULD ALREADY BE SHOWING HIMSELF. YES, MY HUSBAND IS A LOON. SO TOMORROW WE WILL FIND OUT WHEN MY NEXT APPOINTMENT IS BECAUSE SHE DIDN'T HAVE HER BOOK WITH HERE TODAY. TOMORROW WE SEE BOZO, BUT HEY I COULDN'T BE HAPPIER.

Fear factor queen!!

At our squadron kid's Halloween party they did their own version of the well known TV show, Fear Factor. So Maddy was a contestant. She did really good. First, the tried different foods like grape eyeballs, noodle brains, and finally the grossest thing ever tuna fish mixed with cherry jello. YUCK! But she did it and moved on to the next round. Next, they (her and her partner, the cute little Supergirl) had to each take a bite out of a hanging apple at the same time. The final round was to toilet paper themselves into a mummy and run to the other side of the room and back. Unfortunately some older girls in the competition cheated and won. They didn't wrap themselves fully. I of course was appalled because Maddy was doing the best job of wrapping herself like she was supposed to. I personally think she should have won, and no I am not bias it just the TRUTH!!!

Thanks MOM!!!

So last week I got two boxes in the mail from my mom, full of goodies for the baby. It was so fun to go through. Look at all she crammed in two boxes:

And these are the booties she made, aren't they sweet? Thanks, mom!

Rest in Peace, Joey!!

As most of you know our family lost a special person. While I never met Joey, I know him through things I have been told about him. He was much like my husband by what I understand, therefore I know I would have loved him. I have been very sad for the loss of Joey. He had two young sons and a strong, wonderful wife. Tomorrow he will be laid to rest. I grieve for his wife, sons, and Aunt Ginger and Uncle Mike. The loss of a child is almost unbearable. I pray that God carries them through these hard times. As for how Karen must feel I have no idea. She has to now live her life as a single parent without the love of her life. It must be unimaginable for her, but I know God will bring her through it. "If God brings it to you, he will bring you through it!" But still as I sit here typing I weep for them. May God be with them now and always, because I know Joey certainly will be.

Last years pumpkin

Well as some of you know my son was named Conner, which is also Superboy's name in the comics. My husband is a HUGE comic book fan. So if was funny that the names we had picked when I was pregnant with him (Conner and Kara) are the names of both Superboy and Supergirl. When we found out his prognosis, we began calling him our superbaby (because we didn't find out his sex until after birth). I called him superbaby because I didn't believe that he wasn't going to make it. I tried to think he would make it and that I would be able to tell people the miracle of what he overcame. But when I was thinking of him being a miracle and a superbaby, I didn't get his purpose. He was a miracle because he brought our family closer together. He was a superbaby because he did things the doctors said he wouldn't do. They told me I would never feel him kick and guess what I did everyday. I was so amazed by it that anyone near when he would do it I would make them feel it too. Seventeen people felt it besides me. So anyway after he passed Nick and I buy things with the superman symbol on them to remember him by. So last year as a memorial to him I made a superman jack o' lantern. It turned out really beautiful. I thought I would share it's beauty with you.

Our graveyard cake

So I wanted to make a cute cake for Halloween. My mom had made one for a birthday party once and I also saw it in a new recipe book I got. It is so simple and fun.

All you need is:

1 whole thing of cookies n cream ice cream (softened)

1 small thing of cool whip

1 box of oreos

6-8 milano cookies

black frosting

some pumpkin candy corns

So first thing you do is put some oreos in your chopper until it looks like dirt. Cover the bottom of your pan with them. Next add softened ice cream and spread into an even layer. Then add cool whip and make an even layer with it. Take the black icing and write RIP or someones name on 6-8 cookies like they are headstones and stick them in the cake half way. Use your left over crushed oreos as dirt on top of the graves. Finally add the pumpkins sporadically throughout the cake. Keep in freezer for about 2 hours and serve. YUMMY!

Harvest pumpkin brownies

So yesterday I decided to try a new recipe that I have been meaning to use for a while. Oh my goodness, if you like pumpkin(which I do) then you will adore this stuff. I ate three pieces yesterday. I couldn't help myself. It was wonderful. It is very moist and is more like pumpkin bread than a brownie. So since I am raving on I guess I could share the recipe for those who want to try it. Let me know if you do and how it turns out!!

What you will need:

1 can (15 ounce) pumpkin

4 eggs

3/4 cup vegetable oil

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

2 cups all purpose flour

2 cups sugar

1 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice

2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

2 teaspoons baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Beat pumpkin, oil, eggs, and vanilla until well blended. Combine dry ingredients; stir into pumpkin mixture. Pour into greased 15x10x1 pan ( I used an 8x8 which made it thicker and took and hour and 15 minutes). Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes.

GIRL: Out of 26:

I answered 8 yes, 13 no, 3 don't know, and 2 too soon to tell.

SO THAT WOULD MEAN MY ODDS ARE BETTER FOR A BOY, BUT WHO REALLY KNOWS.

Okay so I am sure I missed some things but for the most part I think I covered most of the old wives tales. Obviously they are called "tales" for a reason. I don't think any of them are true ALL of the time, but they sure are fun. It took my half an hour to find all these. I even had to go pee and look to see if it was bright or dull. Funny I know. I was going to ask Nick what he thought but then I realized how grossed out he would be and how I really don't want him seeing my pee, so I vetoed that. Were any of them true for you? I am a firm believer in the whole heartburn equals lots of hair because I had it bad with Conner and he had a head full. I have been getting it a lot with this one too, but I am glad I like babies with hair. So I know I am going a little nuts with the whole boy or girl thing. I am just anxious. I never got to find out with Conner so this time I really hope to find out. Fingers crossed for the 29th.

According to the Chinese calendar...

I am having a boy. My good friend Abbie passed this website over to me (http:www.obfocus.com/calculators/birthchart.htm) and says it worked for her. My mom and I checked it out and it was right for most people we tried. So go check it out and see if it was right for you. Oh and let me know of course. Thank you Abbie for the website. I find that I really enjoy those things.

We've been Boo'd

So yesterday we got a knock on the door and Maddy went to get it and found this on our door. Apparently someone has started a tradition on our road that consist of Booing your neighbors. On the back of the sign that says Boo it read:
Boo!
To our good friends on our street:
Our homes' location made us meet.
You now have been Boo'd, but who could we be?
We'll never tell, it's a secret, you see.
We placed these goodies for you and yours
Then we ran fast after knocking the door!
Happy Halloween!
Place this Boo on your front door
And make sure you Boo a neighbor of yours!
Now isn't that a cute idea? So we are going to get the stuff to Boo someone in our neighborhood this weekend. It is really fun! You should start it in your neighborhood. Happy Halloween!!!

This is what happens when you let them dress themselves....

This child is WAY too happy!!
She looks scared.

This was Maddy's outfit choice yesterday, luckily she chose to wear this AFTER school. Too funny. She's a crazy girl.

10 weeks and growing

So I haven't gained any weight yet, besides the few pounds I had lost in the beginning, but my stomach is starting to pouch out some. And yes that is a maternity skirt. I have found that most of my clothes are more comfortable with the top button undone and since I don't want to walk around looking all hillbilish (not even sure if that's a word), I sometimes were my maternity clothes. Probably by my next appointment I will be in them full time, but we will see.

Halloween cookies

Maddy and I made cookies the other night. Aren't they cute? Okay, okay so the Pillsbury dough boy helped out but but hey we cut the shapes and decorated them. I have never been a good cookie baker, but pies now that's more my ball game.

To prove I'm not cruel...

So here it is proof that Chloe (my cat) needs to be groomed. If you can't tell what it is, I will explain, it is a bald spot. She has got herself so matted up that it is making bald spots on her when she tries to groom herself. It is very sad because she is in pain from these clumps. I feel terrible about it. So that's why I am in desperate need of a groomers help. So yes she will have really short hair for a while but it will grow back. Although I may decide to keep it shorter than it is now in the future. So don't be mad at me people. I am doing it for her own good. Trust me.

So much to do, so little time.

So it seems I have gotten myself behind on some Christmas projects that I have been doing for months now. At first I was really into it and was working at a pretty good pace, but now it seems I have slowed down to nothing. I have ran out of ideas and feel as if I am not going to get them done in time. I don't know why I always seem to do this. I get something started and I am all excited about it and then BOOM months later I don't have the desire to do it anymore. I do that with my scrapbooks. I will get one started and will be all happy about it with ideas floating around in my head. I get about 8-10 pages done and I move on to something else. I guess it is just that the excitement is gone. I am not sure. I need something to motivate me. So I have decided to start back at my project with the motivation of knowing it is going to make the people I am making them for happy. That should be motivation right? Well we will see how much I get done today.

176 beats per minute.

So I know there's an old wives tale that if your baby has a heartbeat of over 140 then you are going to have a girl, but I can't say I am believer. My friend Sheena is pregnant with a boy and guess what at her first ultrasound his heart beat was 198. It has slowed down to a 155 but still it's over 140. I also went back thorough Conner's (my son) book and saw his heartbeat ranged from 128-160. So to my knowledge my baby's heartbeat of 176 is no indication that I am carrying a girl. I did look up the ways to tell if you are having a boy or girl and while the majority pointed toward a boy some also said girl too. So who knows what I am having. The doctor ( my new high risk one, who is really nice) said that maybe we will be able to see what the baby is at my next visit (Oct. 29th) but I am trying to not get too excited, but it's really hard. Oh I guess I forgot to tell you about my last visit, it went well. Dr. Tipton said that the baby is right on target with everything and my due date according to the ultrasound is May 7th, right around Mother's Day cool I know. So now let's play a game did anything help you determine the sex of your baby? If so what? Or what did people tell you that wasn't accurate? Just wondering.

Another tag..

It's true I have been tagged again by Aunt Sandi. So I have to tell you 7 things about you you didn't know. I am pretty open about my life and things about me, but I am going to do my best to think of things you wouldn't know. So here it goes:

1. While laundry is my favorite chore around the house I am not so great at it. Well, okay so I am good at washing, drying, and folding them up, but not so great with bleach and ironing. I just started using bleach about 8 months ago. Before then I never used it, therefore we probably always had dingy whites. I know it's horrible but hey I've got the hang of it now. Oh and ironing, well lets just say it doesn't happen. EVER. If anyone irons in the house it is my husband. Hey that's what my dryer and dryer sheets are for. I just toss them in there for a few minutes and Viola, most of the wrinkles are gone.

2. I used to be a good artist(at pencil drawings) when I was in school. I was even accepted to a art school in high school, but I backed out because I didn't think I was good enough to make a career out of it. My mom still has some of my drawings at her house.

3.I can't remember a time in my life that I didn't believe in God. As far back as I can remember I have always believed in him and heaven. I was saved at the age of 12 but I was a believer long before that. I think it's weird when people don't believe in God.

4. I was always in the advanced classes in school, but I never seemed to do as good as my friends on tests. I hate taking test. I think I have test anxiety.

5. I like to eat blueberry waffles with peanut butter and syrup on top. It is so good, but a lot of people think I am weird for liking it. You should try it. Mmmmmm.

6. I don't watch the news. Nope not my thing. It is entirely too depressing for me. I am always the last to know about world events for this reason.

7. Finally...hmmmm. Okay so last but not least I will tell you how my Tinkerbell obsession came about: I always thought she was cute but when my family when to Disney one year. All my aunts and uncles along with my mom took my cousins and me to a place where you dress up as Disney characters. I of course was Tinkerbell. So in high school I had that nickname for a while so it made me start collecting some things with her on it. So now I am really into the Tinkerbell thing. No I am not hugely obsessed with her but I do like the stuff. I think I sometimes try to push her on Maddy so I have an excuse to buy the stuff. Crazy I know.

So there you have it 7 things about me you probably didn't know. So I know I am supposed to tag 7 people but with my lack of blogging buddies I am only able to come up with a few so here goes:

1. Sissy- cause you always have the funniest things to tell about yourself.

2. Abbie- my newest friend on here I wanted to tag you to learn more about you, but I see someone beat me to it.

And well that's about it, if anyone else reads my blog then you can consider yourself tagged also. Happy blogging.
