Decorating in my mind....

It seems the closer we get to leaving the island the more I think about about decorating my new house. Yeah, the house I don't have yet!!! But in my mind it's beautiful and colorful!! And I am hoping, wishing, and dreaming it is in Florida!! But anyway, while thinking of color schemes and decorating ideas I have come up with a few things I want to do. But before I reveal those things here are a few things I found at a local store to help my inspiration.
This is a picture frame that I chose for my room. I actually bought two of them so that both, Nick and myself, can have one on our nightstand. They are 5x7s, which is my favorite picture size!!! They are a lime green with a small light blue stripe. LOVE these colors together. I also bought a candle plate in the same green for $2 in the clearance section of Target.com. YAHOO! Now if I could only find a comforter to match. Anyone seen anything that might look good with this? If so tell me where!!!Now this is what really got me excited... A picture frame and candle holder for Maddy's room. I knew I wanted to do her room in bright colors, so when I saw this I was in awe! I know what you are thinking, it's just a picture frame....but it's lovely isn't it? I have also found her a comforter set on JCPenny.com that is just gorgeous. I am thinking of painting one accent wall in her room of this same pink and doing the other three walls in this green-blue. What do you think? Oh and another reason I liked the candle holder so much is that it has a little Japanese decor on it, which Maddy will love. I wanted something to remind her of her time here!!

As for the rest of the house.....I know most of the color schemes but am still working on what I need to buy for them. One thing I am certain on is how I want to paint Kara's room, but am having a hard time finding a comforter that I like for it. Her room will be done in the lovely pink/brown that I wish I would have done for her nursery. I want to do the bottom half of her wall in 12 inch stripes of alternating chocolate brown and pretty pink. Then the top half will be solid pink with large brown polka dots. I will need to get some kind of molding to be the separator, which will most likely be white. I am also planning on redoing some old book shelves we have in storage for the girls rooms. I am going to paint them white and may do some stenciling on them for extra flare, but I am not sure yet. That way the girls have somewhere for their books. Both of our girls love books and need somewhere to put them.

My living room will be done in blue/brown. I have several little items that I have been collecting for a while to decorate with. But we will need to buy new living room furniture (in either brown or tan) and end tables. I figure that will be something I do when I get back to the states. CAN'T WAIT!!!

My dining room will be done in purple, because I just can't give up having at least one purple room just yet. I have a really pretty purple tea set that's going to look so pretty in a china cabinet. Also that will leave me with a place to put my purple/silver Christmas tree! hee hee! Have I mentioned I can't wait?

The kitchen and bathrooms are still up in the air for me. The are really last on my priority list of things to decorate, because they will be easier to do. I know one bathroom will be done in blue/brown because I already have the stuff, but otherwise I have no clue. This is the stuff that keeps me up at night. But it is fun to think about. I am so tired of plain white walls. Help me Tom Cruise...help me! Okay couldn't resist a little line from the movie "Talladega nights" sorry!!

Her blanket

WHOOPS! I wrote this on Saturday but forgot to push publish post so it was just saved.

So for show and tell Friday (althought it's Saturday here) I wanted to share something special with you. At my baby shower everyone put messages to Kara on washclothes and my neighbor (Meredith) sewed them together to make a blanket. It was my other neighbor, Tangela's idea. It turned out really cute, as you can see. The blank one in the corner is for me to put something. I am probably going to do her birthdate, weight, and inches. Speaking of inches, turns out she's only 20 inches long. They told us wrong at her birth. I had a paper that said 20 inches and then when she got measured at her appointment it turned out to be 20 rather than 21. So anyway, I wanted to share this lovely peice of work with you. I am going to hang it on her wall whenever I do the nursery. Whenever I do that I will post pics.

The start of a nursery.....

He was hard at work!
I didn't mean to miss his face!!
The walls have nothing up yet, but it's starting to pull together!
I know the bumper is on inside out, but it's because the crib doesn't show it on the outside.
Don't you love the glow worm and little musical thing? Too cute!!

On Monday, Nick was off of work so we decided to put up the crib. Luckily the bed set came in that same day. It was quite amusing watching him put it together. He only put the sides on wrong one time, so I can't complain. He kept telling me I wasn't allowed to help because it's the daddy's job to put up the crib. So I helped as little as I could. I did have fun putting the bedding on. I know it is very purple, but that's the way I like it!! The quilt is very cozy, I love it. I also got the matching lamp that I have in the loft where I will be feeding her at night. Right now she is sharing a room with Maddy so it's a little cramped. Once I get it all finished with the stuff on the wall I will be sure to post new pics. It's killing me that I can't paint the walls lilac or even light pink. I think it would be so cute!! However we vowed not to paint any walls in this house so we won't have to deal with it when we leave. Whenever I get back to the states and we get a house it's on!! I will be painting every room!! So tell me what you think of my progress!!!

I need help!!!

So I had my crib set picked out and tonight I was looking and found another one that is really cute and cheaper. So if you have the time, I would appreciate if you would to look at them both and tell me which one I should choose. Of course when it comes down to it, I will choose my favorite, but for now I don't know which one that is. So if you want go to http://www.babysupermall.com/ and type in Sugar Plum by Cocalo and then Lilac Garden by Kidsline and tell me which one is cuter. They are very similar, which makes it harder. Just needing advice that's all. Hope you have a great day!!

*Nick picked the Lilac Garden before knowing it was the cheaper one. So we will see......

Nursery delay

Well it seems that I may have a nursery delay. I have my crib and changing table, it's just that I am having to wait to get the crib put together later than I intended. At first I was furious at my husband, mad that he didn't see the importance of it like I do. He wanted to wait to do it until April or late March ( I am due May 7th, but measuring a week big which would put me having her in late April). I, on the other hand, wanted it up the end of this month so that I would be able to start decorating and getting everything organized. Being that we only have two bedrooms (ours and Maddy's) we were going to set up the crib in our loft (where my computer is) until after Maddy returns to Florida. So I was going on about how I wanted him to move the computer so I could put the crib on the other wall so I could hang some things. He (my husband) felt that there was no point to decorate in here since we will be moving the crib a couple of months after she's born. He told me that my problem was that I am nesting (not something a hormonal woman wants to hear). Well, be it nesting or not I feel this huge need to get things done. I figure this time next month I am going to have a lot harder of a time getting around and would feel better if things were inorder. I have been going through all of our closets and cleaning everything out. I just want to have things done so I won't have to worry if she were to show up early. I have this huge fear of her being early since Conner was. I know that things with him were different, but I still can't shake the feeling that she will be early too. So here I am feeling all out of sorts. I have finally concluded that the crib being up is not that big of a deal. I had planned on putting her in it for her naps, but I will have her pack n play for that. She will be sleeping in our room the first month or so anyway so that she won't bother Maddy's sleep (plus I am sure I will be overly paranoid wanting to keep her close). So I do feel very disappointed about not having a nursery to take pictures of for everyone to see. I feel so envious of Jana's nursery that's done up all cute, love the pink and brown!! I am still trying to figure out how I will even do the nursery. I have yet to order my bed set, but I have it picked out (purple and butterflies at Target called Sugar Plum). I am going this Saturday to my friends house to see what all she has that she wants to get rid of. I know I am getting a rocker and running stroller from her for sure. I know it will all come together, but the overwhelming need to get things done is driving me bonkers. Hopefully this weekend I will get some things bought and will feel better. Anyone else have this issues when you were pregnant??

Ready for Thanksgiving!

So before I took my Fall tree down, to make it a Christmas tree, I had to get some pictures. I think they came out really cute. And my scarecrow, isn't he adorable? Maddy of course didn't want to take the pictures at first and then she got all into it. She's a good little model don't you think?

Our pumpkins

This year my superman pumpkin didn't come out quite as well as last year but it was still cool!
I decided to do a Batgirl pumpkin since Maddy dressed up as her. It was way more challenging than I thought it would be. Geez! But people loved it. Some even took pictures of it.

In celebration of the 1st day of Fall

I wish I had more but I guess I will have to settle with what I got. I still have to put my scarecrow outside. I just wish that the fall weather would come now. It makes me get in the best mood. It is the BEST time of the year. You have to love the crispness of the air and the beautiful colors. Man, I need to live somewhere that actually has Fall. Any suggestions?

I told you so....

I did it! I got my fall tree up. It is enormous, but I love it. I still of course need more decorations, but my mom sent some stuff in the mail and I will be making a trip back to the craft store soon. I know I complained that they never have anything, and I go in there yesterday and couldn't believe my eyes. I was thrilled. So I spent $30 to start and here's the final product of that. Once I add more stuff to it I will post new pics. But tell me what you think so far....

I want a fall tree!!

Okay so as crazy as it sounds I want to put up my Christmas tree. I know it's not even Halloween yet, but I am getting a really bad itch to do it. My only solution is to do a Fall tree, cause my mother in law saw one at Hobby Lobby and it looks fabulous. But I have a major problem. This dumb little island doesn't sell much fall stuff. It's a shame, I know. It makes me mad. It makes me miss the states so bad. I want a Hobby Lobby, Michael's, JoAnn's, something. This place has HORRIBLE shopping, that is unless of course you like Asian decor, which I don't. Sure some of it is okay, like the lamps I recently bought. But most of it looks cheesy to me. So here I am mad that I can't put up my tree. I need something to get me in that cheery mood. I want it to get cooler outside or something. I am grasping here. So you never know I may end up putting that tree up next week. I will keep you posted.

My newest find....

Okay so I actually got these a few weeks ago but am just now getting to blogging about it. I found these lamps at the BX. Nick's lamp on his side of the bed had just broke and I thought, hmmm those would be cute in my room. Plus they gave me the opporotunity to put up more pictures. I always love an excuse for that. So the pictures are of both sides of my lamp, Nick has yet to put pictures in his. They kind of have a asian look to them, but for once I like it. Tell me what you think?? Oh and don't make fun of my plain white walls. I live in base housing and I refuse to have to paint it back that way. LOL

Polka dots!

Okay so I finally finished painting the letters of Maddy's name to go on her wall . I did her room in purple and lime green. I figured that polka dots would be cute so I did it and I think they turned out adorable. Don't you think?
